Time to Play Outside

I suppose it isn't technically Indian Summer because we haven't experienced a frost, but the weather the past few days has been heart-breakingly beautiful.  High 70's, sunny, calm winds...  The evenings are cool, the leaves are just starting to turn, it is a gorgeous time of year.

A nasty stomach virus swept through our house this week leaving only Amelia unaffected. So when this weekend finally arrived, we were all on the mend, and the weather was ideal we embraced a Saturday spent mostly outside.

We started our day at a bicycle ride, Jim's Ride, to benefit Orchard Place. Jim Goodman was a friend and colleague who unexpectedly (and inexplicably) passed away competing in the Hy-Vee Tri-Athalon earlier this summer.  John and I set out on the 15 mile loop, with him having the much more difficult workout pulling close to 70 pounds of Moorlach girls in the Burley!

Ava and Amelia, tucked into the Burley...

Tonight before joining Papa Ray, Grandma Jo and my aunties for dinner we stopped by the park to play. The light was so beautiful and John got a couple of wonderful shots of the girls on the saucer swing...

Trying to balance out the bouncing....

Is it any wonder the girls each crashed like a ton of bricks into bed tonight?
