It has been one of those weeks where we have no choice but to take it day by day. A week ago Sunday both girls spiked big fevers, coupled with some respiratory symptoms that lead me to believe they've both had the H1N1 virus. The tightly choreographed dance that is our lives became even more complicated, but with help from Grandma Jo we made it through the week. Amelia was feeling better and able to return to childcare on Thursday, Ava didn't really rally until Friday - fortunately this week was her Fall intercession so she didn't miss any school. Of course Friday John was laid low by a milder, but still difficult version of the virus that has kept him close to home all weekend.
To get the girls out of the house (give John a break) and some fresh air I headed off to the pumpkin farm this afternoon with Grandma Jo. We had a great time! The laundry is not done, but both girls are sound asleep before 8:00pm. Totally worth it!
What I think was the favorite activity at the pumpkin farm - little wheelie tricycle-like bikes without pedals. Amelia was ruthless.
Posing at the top of a very long climb...
Both girls loved the slide - it shoots you out like a rocket and frankly kind of hurts your butt (ahem, bottom). Amelia only let me hold her down the slide once - after that she was determined to do it on her own.
Ava at the bottom of the slide...
Queen of the hay bales....
Swinging with Grandma Jo....
A barn cat who likes Cheetos? Who would believe it?
Pulling her sister....

I am holding my breath and waiting for our turn to come. I can only imagine how stressful it was for you, but it sounds like it's working it's way out of the house! Hopefully you won't be next.
Love your expression on the slide!
