Neglect

Oh January.... Here we are with crummy weather, the post holiday let down and the start of the Legislative session. What was once the cozy comfort of winter has given way to cabin fever. The snow used to be pretty and novel, but six school snow days later we're kind of over it.

The blog has suffered from some neglect during this period of transition and even with the grumbling above, there are things to report, things to appreciate, things to celebrate. Over the past weeks John was made partner at his law firm, we snuck in a quick trip to Minnesota, I celebrated a birthday and Meghan got a new job.

Ava and Amelia cuddling together watching TV in the morning....

Ava and her friends so very determined to jump on the trampoline (after 4-6 inches of snow) that they cleared it off and jumped in their boots and snow pants...

Last weekend we made a trip to Minnesota to visit Brian and Hilary's family. As always we had a wonderful time watching the kids play and catching up with them. Saturday afternoon we took the kiddos sledding, Sunday it was off to the ice skating rink. Here's Ava and her cousin once removed (Hilary's sister's daughter A) who Ava tells me repeatedly would be her very best friend if only we lived closer....

All the cousins - Matt, Ava, A and Ben....

John and Brian were referees for a 6th grade girl's basketball tournament during our visit... John was nearly fired.

This Wednesday Ava had a school snow day and spent much of the day at the office with John. When she got to the office she found Meghan, wearing the same outfit! This week Meghan was offered a position as the Finance Assistant on the Culver campaign for Governor. (A job she interviewed for Tuesday at 11am and was offered 24 hours later!) She will transition from full time work at Whitfield and Eddy to the campaign the beginning of the month.
