We are close (so close!) to the start of our summer break. Ava's school operates on a year round calendar with a seven (or so) week break in the summer. It feels like a little break for all of us. Schedules loosen up a little bit. The girls stay up later. We plan any vacations or long weekends during this time - maybe take a few extra half days off work here and there.
Friday was Amelia's LAST DAY of child care. I know it is a cliche to ask, "where has the time gone?" This summer the girls will be home with a nanny, a nice young woman who lives in our neighborhood and just finished her first year of nursing school. Amelia is excited to be home and even more excited to start kindergarten this fall.
Here she's loaded up ready for her last day. She has her backpack, her bag of swim stuff for water day and Ava's school bag.
This week Ava had Junior Golf camp at the Indianola Country Club. This is her second year and she really seems to enjoy it. Yesterday they had their driving and putting contest and Ava took first place in both. Longest drive and closest putt. For her victories she scored an Indianola Country Club Junior Golf hat, which she was allowed to wear to school. (An exception to the usual no hat rule at school) She also won a golf ball she's carried around in her pocket since then. It is fun to see her so proud of herself for having practiced hard and performed well. Here she models her hat at her culminating event yesterday.
Next week Ava will finish up school and the girls will be in dance recital week - kicking off the summer with a storm of activity.
