After months of scorching hot temperatures the past week or so has been decidedly Fall-like. It's still warm during the day, but mornings and evenings are cool. It is getting dark earlier. The kids are back in school. Summer 2012 has very nearly slipped between our fingers.
In an attempt to hold on to some of the last days of summer I took the kids (and Orbit! Don't forget Orbit!) down to Lake Aquahbi yesterday afternoon to picnic, dip in the lake and do a little walking. Naturally Ava's bestie Jessica came along. Temps were in the high 70's, but it was a little over-cast, a little windy. That didn't stop the kids from running straight into the water. (Orbit kept his paws dry thankyouverymuch.)

We took a little walk over to a small peninsula where the girls competed to make the biggest splash in the water....
