John's law firm has a skybox at Principal Park. By a stroke of luck (and kindness on the part of the person who coordinates the box) we were able to use it last night to watch an Iowa Cubs game. It was a beautiful evening, after a day of soggy weather. We gathered with some friends, we had some expensive cheap beer while the kids ate an astonishing amount of ball park food. The box is really an ideal way to go to a baseball game with kids. It gives them some more room to move around while still keeping them in an somewhat confined space.
The Cubs lost the second game of a double header (they won the first one) which sparked Ava to remark 'that's really only fair and being a good sport.' After the game we got to watch a fireworks display - Ava soaking it up outside with John, Amelia clinging to me in fear inside the box.
Both girls were sound asleep when we pulled in to the garage 2 hours past their normal bedtime.
